Seven days until teams cut to 53. Shedeur's week in Cleveland, Arden Walker claimed by a rival he plays in Week 1, and Jimmy Horn Jr. running out of road — plus where all nineteen of ours stand.

They cut him on a Monday. By Tuesday he had a new job — with the team that plays his old team in Week 1.
All right, family. It’s your man Harry B. Welcome to The Liberian Perspective.
Seven days until these teams cut down to 53. You know what time it is. Let’s work.
Coming up:
Everything Cleveland’s been putting off, they settle this week.
They’re splitting first-team reps. Shedeur gets Monday and Wednesday. Watson gets Tuesday and Thursday — though Thursday both teams share a field with Buffalo for a joint practice, so Thursday is really both of them. Then Saturday at Huntington Bank Field, Shedeur starts against the Bills and plays the first half with the ones.
So Saturday’s the audition, right? That’s what I thought too. But if both staffs see what they need on Thursday, the starters might not play Saturday at all. Monken has said what he wants is Shedeur going against Buffalo’s first-team defense in a controlled setting — and he can get all of that Thursday without anybody suiting up for a game.
What he’s shown: 6-for-11, 79 yards, one pick against the Bears on the 16th. Hit Larvadain for 24. Hit Floriea for 35. Watson started that one and took the first half.
Where it stands: Monken says “relatively close.”
Let me translate. Coaches say relatively close when they haven’t decided. They say it a whole lot louder when they have.
I’m watching Thursday. Not Saturday.
Minnesota waived Arden Walker on Monday. Green Bay claimed him Tuesday.
Week 1 is September 13. Green Bay at Minnesota.
Three seasons in Boulder under Coach Prime. 102 career tackles over five years, counting his two at Missouri. He lost a job and had a new one inside twenty-four hours — and drew the team that let him go in the opener.
Seventeen days. Let that simmer.
Ten days in: a touchdown caught over Jabbar Muhammad, two picks, and a day where he played 55 percent of the defensive snaps in 11-on-11. Camp totals are 96 on defense, 61 on offense.
Jacksonville has him listed as a starting corner next to Jourdan Lewis and Montaric Brown, and backup receiver behind Brian Thomas Jr. Coen says the two-way plan runs into the season. He’s fully healthy.
Now listen. I heard the same people you heard. Can’t do it at this level. Body won’t hold up. Pick a side of the ball.
Ten days of camp say different.
Four catches, 44 yards in the Hall of Fame Game. Team high. He returned a kick while he was out there, too.
He walked into Canton on the bubble. He walked out with people saying he’d probably made it.
I’m not going to sugarcoat the math for you, because that’s not what we do here. McMillan, Coker, and Legette are locked. Tremayne’s got a special teams spot. That leaves Horn against Metchie III and Ja’seem Reed — though Brazzell II landing on IR cracked one more door open.
But special teams value is how a receiver on the bubble gets to stay. And he just showed them some.
The 26th is the deadline. Saturday is what he’s got.
Jimmy, if you see this — go get it, young man. We’re watching.
LaJohntay Wester, Ravens. Missed a connection in the red zone, and Lamar Jackson pulled him aside with a tablet and walked him through it himself. Then he caught a wide-open touchdown from Huntley in pads. Still on the 53. When a franchise quarterback spends his own time on you, that’s a signal.
Anthony Hankerson, Seahawks. Signed the 17th into a backfield in pieces — Price, Wilson, Wright all out, Charbonnet on PUP. Seattle might still go trade for a back. Right now that door is wide open.
Xavier Weaver, Cardinals. Here’s one that got past most people: Weaver and Horn were on the same field in Canton, on opposite sidelines. Weaver caught three of five targets for 31 yards before he took a hit and went into concussion protocol. He’s still in it, no return date. Coach Prime posted about both of them after. Two of ours in the Hall of Fame Game. One walked out with a case. One walked out hurt.
Kaidon Salter, BC Lions. Still behind a healthy Rourke. But go back to July 30 — his first CFL start, 160 rushing yards, a franchise record for a Lions quarterback. He broke a mark that had stood since 1960. BC won it 35-19. Best game anybody on this list has played all summer, and it’s not close.
Shilo Sanders, free agent. Still unsigned. No reported workouts since San Francisco last September. And here’s something worth having: not one NFL team named safety its top offseason priority this year. That’s the market. That is not the man.
Preston Hodge, Jaguars. Quietly on the preseason depth chart at corner. Led the Big 12 with 13 passes defended last season. Nobody’s talking about him. They will.
📺 Thursday — Browns and Bills, joint practice Not televised. Follow the Cleveland beat reports. I believe this is where it actually gets decided.
📺 Saturday — Bills at Browns Huntington Bank Field. Shedeur starts, first half — unless Thursday already answered it.
📺 Saturday — Panthers preseason Horn’s last real look before the 26th.
Everybody on the board. Where each man stands right now.
